Basically, UBC is getting in trouble because students were chanting a cheer that it pretty much, pro-rape. It goes, "Y-O-U-N-G at UBC, we like 'em young, Y is for your sister, O is for oh so tight, U is for underage, N is for no consent, G is for go to jail."
Vulgar. Gruesome. Whatever you want to call it. It's not right.
I had heard about this story while sitting in a house lounge yesterday. A first-year Sauder student received an e-mail from the dean of Sauder, which basically stated that they don't agree with what happened and furthermore, there will be an investigation into what's going on.
Quite honestly, this chant should probably be the least of concerns when it comes to what the UBC students are saying and doing. I have heard of worse things than just this chant.
I already love UBC but the fact that it takes the CBC to stop it, doesn't make any sense and frankly, says a whole lot about who's in charge here.
