Engineers Carolling

Today is the LAST DAY OF TERM 1 CLASSES!! Can you believe it?
While going to get my breakfast this morning I heard quite a commotion outside the commons block and it turns out it was the Engineers! After realizing what they were doing, it turns out everyday on the last day of classes they go carolling around campus! Here's a quick video to give you an idea of what it was like but even this doesn't quite do it justice!! They were loud, proud and didn't sound too bad either! Go Engineering! My new favourite faculty!

Millionaires

http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/news/worlds-top-100-universities-for-producing-millionaires/2008749.article

UBC has been ranked 56 in the list of 100 universities for producing millionaires! Maybe this means I'll get to be a millionaire one day!
We're the third in Canada, beating out SFU, UVic and even Carleton, none of which even made the list!
Yay for maybe being a millionaire one day, or at least having one as a Facebook friend!

Yoga

Can I get a high five? One for taking another step out of my comfort zone? One for finally doing something that I've wanted to do forever?
Nice.
Today my Sociology class was cancelled so, I had a bit of spare time. I've been looking around a lot lately for yoga studios around UBC and I came across Yyoga, which has been compared to Starbucks for yogis. So, I went.
The only class that fit my timing was YHot, their version of Bikram yoga. All of the staff there were super friendly and made me feel a lot better about everything. I went to the Kitsilano location and it was really pretty inside. Everything was very modern and clean! Not to mention, they have mat and towel service included in their prices so everything was there for me to use.
So, the class itself was like something I have never experienced! I did a lot of research on the whole hot yoga thing before going, and I mean A LOT but nothing really explains the feeling except for actually doing it. It's hot, yes but it doesn't feel as hot as people make it out to be. And yes, you sweat. You sweat A LOT as in, I don't think I've ever ever sweat so much in my life. It felt GREAT. Also, the poses weren't nearly as hard as I expected them to be. As someone who has only done yoga in her basement, I was able to keep up and that felt really good.
I left, looking forward to coming back and I think that says it all about my experience.
